Monthly Meeting Minutes
February 14th, 2006  12:00 pm
Amercian Legion Hall, Catered by Moe’s Joe

1. Meeting was called to order.


2. Introduction of new members

A. Jan Stivers and Carla Richardson with Carlisle Superstars Baton, Dance and Gymnastics.


3. Previous minutes reviewed. Motion to accept by Steve Wilson, seconded by Tom Lane all q approved motion accepted.


4. Treasurer Report:

A. January 2006 report given to membership by Jim Segreto.

B. 2005 Financial Review report given.

C. 2006 Budget presented to membership.


5. Executive Director Report – Waived, Ethyl not in attendance.


6. Old Business – 

A. Ribbon Cuttings –

B. Annual Dinner – Over 80 people in attendance, continues to grow every year.


7. New Business –

A. Committee Reports –

1. Government / Community Affairs -           

a. Highway Signage- Looking into trying to become designated as a Historical District. Information has been gathered on a workshop that informs of the requirements and commitments that are required to become a State Historical District. Committee will investigate attending workshop. Committee continues to investigate Way finding signage.

2. Membership – Currently have 46 paid members

3. Program / Community Events

a. March Dinner Meeting – will be an evening meeting with program

b. GDSM Partnership Golf Outing - Scheduled for August 18th, 2006.

1. Keith Churchill and Melinda Huisinga will chair committee this year.

c. Bike Event – Committee is getting together regarding planning the event. Ethyl will be setting a meeting for committee – anyone who is interested please contact Ethyl.

d. Come to Carlisle Event –  started as a “Parade of Homes” but it was decided that a broader concept would be best. There will be a meeting next Wednesday at the City Hall at 8:00 am for anyone who would like to be involved. The plan is to hold the event toward the end of April if the committee can get it set up.  

4. Finance –

a. Carlisle After Prom Party Donation – will ask individual members to make donations to the event. Will not plan to make a $ donation as a Chamber.

a. Chamber Directory – Starting to organize and contact business. Will plan to increase circulation this year and reach more people.


8. Greater Des Moines Partnership report –

A. 14 of the Affiliates Annual Dinners are complete.  Partnership Annual Dinner is complete. Information on projects for the coming year were presented, including  Project Destiny and Workforce development and Diversity.

B. DC trip – Partnership will have a cap of 200 people this year, so get your reservations in early even if you are not completely sure who will be going.


9. Announcements –

  • Central IA Celtic Festival on May 13th, 2006 at County Line Road and Highway 5.   There will be lots of food and fun.   

  • Dickie Doogans will be holding a Dollars for Scholars night with 50% of profits going to Carlisle Dollars for Scholars fund.

  • Fun Night at the Carlisle Schools on Friday March 17th from 5:30pm to 8:30pm
